With the climate crisis intensifying, COP28 represents an opportunity to rally momentum and political will to transition to a more sustainable, equitable, and plant-based food system capable of nourishing both people and planet.
Upfield's team has three official side events planned in the conference's Blue Zone aimed at driving change through constructive dialogue:
Methane and Food: (Dis)closing the Gap
December 5 10:00-10:45am Blue Zone
• This discussion will focus on tangible emissions reduction solutions, including decreasing reliance on meat and dairy and increasing plant-based options.
Consumer Transparency: Why Environmental Labelling Matters
December 6 11:15am - 12:00 pm Blue Zone
• This event will explore standardising environmental impact labels to empower consumer purchasing.
Sustainable Diets as the Default: The Private Sector's Role
December 9 10:00 - 10:45am (Invitation only)
• We'll discuss concrete commitments and partnerships businesses like Upfield can make to expand sustainable diets.
In addition, Upfield representatives including Sally Smith, Chief Sustainability Officer, Susannah Moore, Director of Corporate Affairs and Communications, and Perran Harvey, Senior Policy Lead, will be attending numerous other events and meetings during the conference.
Together with other changemakers, Upfield hopes to leverage COP28 to make substantial progress in shaping the Future of Food.
