Fats play a vital role in our diets. They provide energy, help absorp important vitamins and are key components of our cells and hormones. While some fats are better for us than others, it’s important to include the right kinds - especially those found in plants - to support overall health. Fats play a significant role in our bodies by:

  • Providing concentrated energy (9 kcal per gram)
  • Carrying fat-soluble vitamins A, D, and E
  • Building cells and hormones
  • Protecting vital organs
  • Delivering essential fats like Omega-3 and Omega-6, which our bodies cannot produce and must get
    from food

  • WHO advises it's important to replace 'bad fats' with 'good fats' especially polyunsaturated like the plant-based fats.
  • Recommended to replace high saturated fat foods  with nuts, seeds, vegetable oils, and plant-based products such as soft spreads and liquid margarine
  • It’s important to replace ‘bad fats’, saturated and trans fats, with ‘good fats,’ especially polyunsaturated like the fats found in plants.
